Walking on virgin snow
True, at first walking on snowshoes feels a little strange. But after a while! After the first few steps on the broad soles you will love it! Walk across virgin snow and admire the ice crystals on the snow-covered tree tops. Enjoy the peaceful winter landscape and breathe the clear mountain air. Despite the low temperatures, you can end up feeling pretty warm! There is no lift or cable car anywhere, all you might see are the tracks of snow hares crossing your path. What a pleasant encounter!
And if you forget to bring your snowshoes or poles, the Hotel Alpenrose is there to help! We loan our guests all they need for snowshoe hiking free of charge.
For some people, walking alone is not as much fun and you might prefer to take part in a guided snowshoe hike in a group. The experienced mountain guides at the nearby Catinaccio Alpine Centre accompany you: Catinaccio Alpine Centre, www.berge-erleben.de
Snowy Dolomites peaks, we’re coming!
Put your skins on your touring skis and set out into unspoilt nature, up to Forcella Piccola del Latemar or to Forcella dei Campanili. Make your own way through the snow, far from any marked hiking trails or ski pistes. At the summit, admire the wide views and breathe deeply. Dig out your energy bar from your rucksack to recharge your energy levels. And then enjoy the unforgettable downhill run in the powder snow! Around Catinaccio and Latemar many ski tours of varying levels of difficulty await you. Your destination: the white peaks of the Dolomites, the unspoilt slopes beneath them and this incomparable feeling of freedom.
Please note: Climbing the pistes in the skiing regions is not permitted during skiing times. From January, however, ascent is possible from 5:00 pm to 9:45 pm via the “Laurino 1" piste from Nova Levante to Malga Frommer and the "Re Laurino" piste from Malga Frommer to Rifugio Coronelle.
